Meet the wound that made you.
The aim here isn't to fix the wound or erase it, it's to meet it and embrace it freely without shame and resistance. When those parts of you are allowed a steadier place inside you, something shifts and opens. You relate to yourself and to others with more honesty and less armour.
"I said: What about my heart? He said: Tell me what you hold inside it? I said: Pain and sorrow. He said: Stay with it. The wound is the place where the Light enters you."
— Rumi
We created My Core Wound after decades of sitting with people — individually and as couples — whose lives were quietly organised around an early wound they could feel but rarely name. In our rooms, that pattern shows up in the body first: the bracing, the collapse, the over-giving, the holding back. What we have discovered is that the combination of somatic wisdom, depth psychology and the symbolism of astrology offers a potent form that anyone can use to inquire privately, at their own pace, without waiting for a session or pretending the wound should simply be fixed.
This app is not therapy and not a substitute for human support. It is an invitation to honest self-reflection: to see the shape of your wound clearly, meet it with compassion, and discover what it might become when it is no longer hidden.
Jung's idea was that for all of us, early in life, something difficult happens — a rupture, a rejection, a lack of attunement — that the ego couldn't integrate. This gets split off into the unconscious, where it becomes part of our shadow. The wound doesn't just sit there as damage; it becomes an organizing center for the personality. We build defenses around it; our complexes cluster around it. The exciting bit is that our capacity for depth, empathy, and even healing others often grows directly out of it. The wounded healer isn't wounded despite being a healer; they heal because they're wounded and have done the work of facing it consciously rather than repressing it.
For Jung, individuating — becoming whole, complete, distinct and authentic — is what growth and development is all about. You don't get whole by cutting off the wounded part; you get whole by making the unconscious conscious — bringing the wound into relationship with the ego instead of leaving it to run the show from underneath. That is what we are striving to achieve with this app: to support you in making the unconscious conscious so you can live your potential.
We're not asking you to believe that the position of planets at your birth determine your life. We use astrology the way Jung used myth and symbol: as a language for noticing patterns, not a claim about fate. Report text is generated using Anthropic’s claude-opus-5 model, with deliberate limits on what is sent — enough to write your report, not your identity or contact details.
In Greek mythology, Chiron was the wise centaur who turned an unhealable wound into the ground of compassion and teaching — the archetype of the wounded healer that inspired this app.
